Congratulations to our three winners at the recent Community Broadcasting Association of Australia Awards! 3CR Breakfast Shows took away the ‘Best Program: News and Current Affairs’, Rachel Kirby was awarded ‘Outstanding Station Leadership’ and Tilde Joy won the inaugural ‘Jane Brownrigg Award - Outstanding Volunteer Contribution’. Fantastic! A special shout out to the other finalists including The Sporting Record, Nasser Mashni from Palestine Remembered and Vivien Langford from The Climate Action Show. A huge congratulations to all!

TODAY (Friday 10 October 2025) marks 50 years since 3CR Community Radio (Community Radio Federation) gained its licence! After years of agitating, organising and advocating, we successfully applied for what was then a ‘restricted commercial licence’ under the provision of the Broadcasting and Television Act. Full-time broadcasting kicked off the following year (1976) in early July. So save the date now - we’re celebrating 50 years on air on Saturday 4 July 2026 with an event at the Collingwood Town Hall.

We are pleased to announce that after an extensive recruitment process, Meg Butler has been appointed by the Committee of Management as 3CR Station Manager. Meg brings significant community radio and management experience to the role, as well as a personal commitment to the station that spans more than 20 years. She has also been Acting Station Manager at 3CR since January this year, so is up to speed and ready to help plan for our 50th birthday celebrations next year and for our continued success in the future.

We love sharing our skills with the wider community, and in October we’ll be running our second podcast course for the year. The Podcast Training Course is perfect for new podcasters or those wanting to refine their skills. The 2-day course is run across two short Sundays - October 12 and 19.
